Almost every automaker has joined the race toward autonomous, self-driving cars–and Hyundai is no exception. In fact, according to new reports, Hyundai may be developing its own autonomous chips and sensors.
Instead of relying on other companies to create the sensor technology necessary for self-driving vehicles, Hyundai plans to get ahead of the game, which could easily put the brand ahead as one of the first automakers to achieve autonomous driving.
We don’t know the specifics of what Hyundai is planning to develop, but it’s safe to assume that the chips and sensors would monitor potential hazards around Hyundai vehicles, making it a breeze for autonomous cars to avoid collisions.
What potential problems and concerns could arise from the growth of the self-driving car industry has yet to be seen.
Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the Hyundai self-driving tech soon, but in the meantime, we’re stuck actually driving our cars. To explore a Hyundai vehicle–or take one on a test drive–visit us anytime at Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi.
