Mitsubishi Announces 2018 Outlander Upgrades

The Mitsubishi Outlander quickly became the brand’s top-selling nameplate when it launched in 2011, and since then, the Outlander has been getting VIP treatment with regular refreshes and updates every few years. Mitsubishi recently revealed the 2018 Outlander upgrades, which should be coming to the auto market and Mitsubishi dealer lots sometime this fall. Fans got their first glimpse of the updated model at the New York Auto Show.

As you walk up to the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander, the first thing you might notice about it is the brand-new front fascia, which gives the SUV a more aggressively modern appearance. The rear bumper gets a redesign too, keeping in accordance with the new, angular vibe. Other upgrades include only slight changes to the interior, but nevertheless they’re changes that are intended to enhance accessibility and convenience for drivers, such as the brand-new Smartphone Link system on a 7-inch touchscreen.

Current trims available for the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander include the ES, SE, SEL, and GT trims. Each of these different Outlander models offers something unique to every type of driver.

Mitsubishi’s Five Million Sales Record: From 1982 to Present

Mitsubishi is breaking all sorts of sales records this year, including its five million vehicle sales mark. The brand has sold a whopping number of Mitsubishis in the US, beginning in 1982. Starting with just three models, the brand has grown to offer some of the most popular cars on the market.

When it first began selling in the US in 1982, Mitsubishi offered only the Tredia, Cordia, and Starion, three designs you might still see on the road today. According to Mitsubishi, the most popular models the brand has offered include the 3000GT, Eclipse, Montero, Galant, and the recently retired Lancer Evolution. Mitsubishi’s five million sales record is one impressive mark!

“This is a great milestone for Mitsubishi Motors because it means that five million customers have entrusted the brand over the past 30-plus years, and we hope many more will give us that same opportunity in the future,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, MMNA. “Our current sales momentum combined with a technologically innovative product pipeline primes Mitsubishi for great success in the U.S. for many years to come.”

Mitsubishi currently offers the i-MIEV, Mirage, Lancer, Outlander Sport, and Outlander. Sales are up 43% this year, especially because of over 100 improvements and upgrades made to this most recent model year.
