What Has Changed in the New Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is a favorite in the crossover segment. Not as small as the subcompact CX-3 but not as large and unwieldy as the three-row CX-9, the Mazda CX-5 occupies a sort of in-between, “just-right” sort of space, and for the 2018 model year, the new Mazda CX-5 is getting a few changes.

This comes as a surprise, as the CX-5 was just redesigned for the 2017 model, but Mazda has always been an innovator in the market – dedicated to bringing the latest tech and engineering to their nameplates.

The Mazda CX-5 is carrying over many of its updates from 2017, of course, including its sophisticated interior, upgraded driving dynamics, and quiet insulation in the cabin for a more refined ride.

However, for 2018, the Mazda CX-5 is adding even more by making the brand’s full suite of driver assistance and safety technology available on all trim levels, including the base Sport model, and standard on both the Touring and Grand Touring trims. Also, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is getting a tech update that gives it a cylinder-deactivation system that will improve gas mileage.

The new Mazda CX-5 is launching soon, due out sometime during the winter of 2017-2018. Make sure you keep an eye out for the new model and come see us soon as Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi.
