It’s no secret that Mitsubishi hasn’t been doing too well over the years, but that’s all about to change. The brand was bought by Renault-Nissan not long ago, and it could be the answer to Mitsubishi’s financial woes. The brand’s new Chief Operating Officer is looking to kick off Mitsubishi’s North American comeback tour.
Trevor Mann was formerly Nissan’s Chief Performance Officer. Once Mitsubishi was officially bought by Nissan, he moved to the Chief Operating Officer position. In just three months, he cut purchasing costs and intertwined with Nissan to relieve some of the brand’s expenses. Notably, Mann also helped Carlos Ghosn revive Nissan.
While specific details are forthcoming, Mann wants to add more dealerships to the network, which is currently 362 strong. He also seems to want to move some manufacturing operations to the United States.
Mann is also talking about adding more crossovers to the brand’s lineup. Considering the crossover segment has seen dramatic year-over-year increases in sales, that isn’t too surprising. A new Mitsubishi pickup truck could also be in the works.
There are plenty of challenges ahead in Mitsubishi’s North American comeback, but there are few better people for the job than Trevor Mann.
We here at Gossett Mazda Hyundai Mitsubishi are pumped for the once-revered Japanese brand’s North American comeback!
