Mazda’s Rotary Engines to Return

It has been five years since Mazda’s rotary engines officially left the United States market after the RX-8, but the rotary engine has remained popular with enthusiasts Now, it looks like Mazda’s rotary engines could make a comeback in the near future.Mazda’s Rotary Engines

According to Mitsuo Hitoma, Mazda’s global powertrain head, the rotary engine could return as a range extender on an electric vehicle, potentially as soon as 2019. Mazda’s rotary engines could be useful for this due to a few main reasons. First, the engine is compact and offers impressive performance for anyone behind the wheel. Second, it doesn’t generate much of a vibration, making it perfect for a quiet, comfortable ride.

As for Mazda’s upcoming electric vehicle, the brand promised two amazing models to arrive as soon as 2019—one a fully electric model and one equipped with a range extender, possibly the promised rotary engine.

This isn’t as outlandish as it may seem—Mazda already used the rotary engine as a range extender in the 2013 Mazda2 Concept vehicle, so now it looks like that use could arrive in a practical fashion in just a few years.

We here at Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi can’t wait for the return of the rotary engine!

2017 Mazda CX-9 Wins Total Quality Impact Award

Mazda’s flagship SUV is the 2017 Mazda CX-9, which has just proved it deserves its place at the top of Mazda’s lineup by earning a Total Quality Impact Award in the mid-size crossover SUV segment, courtesy of Strategic Vision.

Total Quality Impact

According to Strategic Vision, praise-worthy vehicles must embody quality throughout the whole vehicle ownership experience. This means it must maintain strong reliability scores, it must be exciting to drive now and down the line, and it must generate a positive emotional response from its drivers.

Strategic Vision made that call through customer surveys that picked on the smallest details of the CX-9 and other contenders that missed the mark. These surveys explored interior seat quality, engine performance, and more.

In fact, engine performance was a big factor in the CX-9’s win. Strategic Vision was thoroughly impressed with the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine, which has won awards of its own. Just as impressive was the CX-9’s interior with real aluminum trim, available Nappa leather, and rosewood from Fujigen, a premium Japanese guitar-maker.

Safety was also important in securing the Total Quality Impact title, and here the CX-9 continued to excel, having earned a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

2017 Mazda6 Touring Review

The mid-size sedan segment is one of the most competitive classes there is, and models tend to represent the best of what each automaker has to offer. The 2017 Mazda6 Touring sits in the middle of the range and certainly serves as a testament to the Japanese brand’s dedication to driver comfort and convenience.

2017 Mazda6 Touring

The 2017 model year sees the addition of noise-cancelling features, like thicker glass, sealing seams, and absorption metal, but the Touring trim boasts standard leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and heated front and rear seats. Those features alone make it a competitor for higher-priced luxury vehicles.

The Mazda6 Touring features a sporty 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that offers an impressive 184 hp. Responsive steering and a quick-shifting six-speed automatic transmission make every drive exciting. Better yet, the Mazda6 Touring earns up to an EPA-estimated 35 mpg highway.*

Mazda Adds Smartphone Integration Software to Lineup

Mazda launched the all-new-and-improved 2017 CX-5 back in March with tons of awesome new features and upgrades based on customer feedback on previous models, but when the launch happened, Mazda spilled another exciting secret—Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are coming to the brand’s lineup. Smartphone integration software like these two systems has been taking the auto industry by storm, allowing people to interact with a familiar user interface on a touchscreen from the comfort of the driver’s seat.

Mazda didn’t announce when the launch of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto would be happening, but they did drop some potentially very exciting info for drivers who already own Mazda vehicles with the MazdaConnect system—all existing MazdaConnect systems should be able to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrades with minimal hardware installations. That means that if you already have a Mazda model, getting smartphone integration software will be a cinch, so you don’t have to miss out on the latest tech.Smartphone Integration Software in 2017 CX-5

Mazda has been partnered with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto since 2014, so developing smartphone integration software for the lineup has been in the cards for years now. Stay tuned for when news of the systems’ launch date or hardware upgrades becomes available, and get in contact with us here at Gossett Mazda Hyundai Mitsubishi for more info.

Everything You Need to Know About Mazda Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)

Mazda LogoAre you thinking about getting a used car but remain unsure about whether or not that is the right idea? Now, thanks to the Mazda Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program, this is a concern of the past. Mazda CPO models are essentially as good as new – for a fraction of the price.

The Mazda CPO program takes gently used, newer Mazda models, evaluates them rigorously through their 160-point inspection, and then entirely restores them to their former glory. In fact, you may find it difficult to determine the difference between a new and a CPO Mazda vehicle.

Plus, CPO Mazda vehicles come with a specific Mazda Extended Confidence plan, which covers almost everything that Mazda’s New-Vehicle Limited Warranty covers, long after the original 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty expires. This way, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, you will be covered.

There are even more bonuses that come with Mazda CPO vehicles, such as a 24-Hour Roadside Assistance Package, an Autocheck Vehicle History Report, various transfer benefits, and even a free trial to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Want to learn more about Mazda CPO or take one out on a test drive? Contact us or visit us anytime at Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi.

Mazda Dealerships Earn Edmunds.com Five Star Dealer Awards

car shoppingCar buying is typically a stressful, and that’s just a universal truth. That’s probably why Edmunds.com set out to find dealerships that make it as easy and convenient as possible for their customers to get their new car and drive away feeling taken care of.

2016 marked the fourth annual Five Star Dealer Awards from Edmunds.com and a total of 23 Mazda dealerships across the country received the top award. These awards aren’t handed out unless the dealership has fully exhibited a strong commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction. A single dealership must also receive no less than 20 perfect five star reviews over the course of the previous two years on Edmunds.com.

While Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi was not on Edmunds.com exclusive Five Star Dealer Awards list (we’ll get ‘em next year!), we wanted to take the time to recognize our fellow Mazda dealers out there who are doing amazing work.

Plus, we want to assure our customers that we will strive to do whatever we can to earn their business, their trust, and their five-star reviews.

There’s a difference between driving well and driving for good. Mazda recently wrapped up its Drive for Good Campaign, which allowed for customers to help out a national or local charity when they purchased a Mazda vehicle. The results of the campaign show just how much help it has generated for various charitable organizations.

According to a Mazda press release, Mazda’s Drive for Good Event raised more than $5.3 million for charity.

The event, which ran from late November 2015 through early January 2016, facilitated the donation of $150 to various charity organizations for every new Mazda vehicle sold.

Additionally, Mazda dealerships also pledged an hour of community service for every Mazda test drive.

“Mazda Drive for Good is in its third year and we are honored to again announce continued growth in donations to our nonprofit partners,” said Masahiro Moro, president and CEO of MNAO. “With more than 72,000 hours pledged, volunteering continues to be the best opportunity for our employees and dealers to make a real difference in their local communities.”

Working together, customers and Mazda dealers made the difference for charities across the nation, a testament to the character of the Mazda brand and those who drive its vehicles.
