2018 Sonata Preview

What’s better than a reliable, comfortable, well-made sedan? That would be an updated one, of course. On that note, one of our favorite mid-size sedans, the Hyundai Sonata, is getting some notable changes for the new 2018 Sonata model. The new model will show off new designs, updated features, and new standard technology, making it more desirable than ever before.

You’ll notice the change in the 2018 Sonata from the beginning when it makes an entrance with its new, bold front end, headed by a larger grille. From there, subtle details enhance the Sonata’s silhouette, including updated taillamp graphics and a choice between new 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the roomy cabin of the 2018 Sonata gets updates to its steering wheel, its shift knob, and its HVAC controls. Also, new technology makes a ride in the 2018 Sonata feel even more modern than before, thanks to conveniences like available wireless charging and a rear-seat USB port. Additionally, smartphone compatibility will be the new standard in every 2018 Sonata with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built into every model. Driver-assist technologies like lane departure warning will also become available in the new Sonata, rounding out the new technological offerings nicely.

We should know more about the 2018 Sonata soon, but this new model year promises to be a good one. We can’t wait to take the first test drive and offer the 2018 Sonata on our lot at Gossett Mazda Hyundai Mitsubishi.

Hyundai Releases DIY Android Auto Installation Instructions

When it comes to in-vehicle technology, Hyundai has often been on the leading edge of development. The brand’s most recent move will only serve to strengthen its reputation.

Technology is becoming more and more advanced every day. Upgrades are a simple fact of life now. With many vehicles out there, it seems you have to drive yours to the dealership to let a technician install new software. In other words, upgrades are relegated to the realm of the “experts.”

Hyundai is putting the power of the upgrade into your hands, however, if you own a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with navigation. The automaker just released DIY Android Auto installation instructions to the masses.

Users need to go their MyHyundai portal and register if they haven’t already done so. Navigating the portal and downloading the software onto a USB drive is extremely easy. The user then moves the software from the USB stick to their Sonata via the USB port. Find instructions for DIY Android Auto installation here.

As far as production vehicles are concerned, Hyundai is first automaker to feature Android Auto. Michael Deitz, Senior Group Manager of Connected Care of Hyundai Motor America, said in a press release, “Hyundai is continuing to offer the best user experience possible by leveraging its MyHyundai platform, so customers have the option to update their car–their way.”
