2018 Hyundai Sonata’s Safety Earns Top Rating

Hyundai Sonata’s safetyMost car shoppers put safety at or near the top of their priority list when shopping for a new car. If that includes you, then the 2018 Hyundai Sonata’s safety will put a smile on your face. It, along with two other Hyundai models, earned a 2018 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.

To earn this rating, a vehicle has to earn the top “good” rating in all crash tests, an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention technology, and a “good” headlight rating. The Sonata, along with the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport, checked all of these boxes.

Along with these three models, four Hyundai models earned the 2018 Top Safety Pick, including the Tucson, Elantra GT, Elantra, and Ioniq Hybrid.

“Hyundai recognizes the importance in providing affordable, appealing and high quality products with an underlying commitment to safety,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The innovations we are implementing for crash protection and prevention have all positively enhanced the safety of our products.”

Every 2018 Sonata comes standard with Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. In fact, the Sonata is the only mid-size sedan that offers this safety feature as standard equipment.

Come see what other great safety features the Sonata has with a test drive at Gossett Hyundai Mazda Mitsubishi today.

We also know the Tucson to exhibit a high degree of versatility, but Rockstar Performance Garage (RPG) recently took the Tucson to an entirely new level. The SEMA conference is coming up and an RPG-modified Tucson will be part of Hyundai’s presentation.

Nic Ashby, owner and general partner of Rockstar Performance Garage, explained in a press release what he and his team’s goal was with the Tucson. “The focus behind this build was to create an off-roader that nobody expected.” The Tucson proved to be a great canvas for their work, explains Ashby, because the CUV featured a “rigid frame” and had “plenty of room in the engine bay.”

The modifications for the Rockstar Performance Garage Hyundai Tucson include:

  • Turbonetics Godzilla Blow Off Valve
  • 32-inch MTZ P3 tires
  • Fully-custom, adjustable shocks and struts system from King Shocks
  • High-flow Magnaflow exhaust
  • Smoked rear tail lights
  • Custom off road bumpers
  • King Shocks 2.5-inch Adjustable Strut Coilovers
